Meet Up at the Farmers Market

Alice Waters has long nurtured and supported a local sustainable food economy. As a chef, she went beyond the kitchen and into the fields to collaborate with organic growers, ranchers, and purveyors. She understood that the best tasting food comes from passionate stewards of the land and that America's rich soil should be cared for and protected for future generations. In this experience, Alice will give you a tour of a local Bay Area farmers market, showing you her world and introducing you to her network of growers and artisanal purveyors. Throughout this outing, she will share her tips for selecting peak-season produce. You'll leave the market with a basket full of provisions. With a fresh produce haul, you and Alice will return to Chez Panisse Cafe for a celebratory lunch. This experience will benefit The Edible Schoolyard Project.
